The girls soccer team split a pair of games last week, dropping a Wednesday contest to Fountain Valley, 4-1 and downing Pueblo Central 5-0 on Friday.Fountain Valley took a 3-0 lead at halftime on their home field.

Track Team Performs Well in Rocky Ford

Thirty-three teams displayed their track skills at the Rocky Ford Invitational on Friday, April 26. Rye grabbed a gold in both the boys’ and girls’ division.Below are finishers in the top 10. Hailey George set a season best record in the 100-meter hurdles, running the event in a time of 17:08.

The Rye High School track team claimed eight medals at their own invitational when they hosted 25 teams on Friday the 19th.Isaiah Guzman claimed the gold medal with a triple jump of 42’ 10” to win the only individual gold of the day.

RHS Girls Beat Pueblo West for Gold at Pueblo East Invitational

The Rye High School girls’ golf team won the 14 team Pueblo East Invitational Tournament held on April 19, at Walking Stick Golf Course in Pueblo.The Rye Lady Thunderbolts pulled out a single stroke win over 4A Pueblo West. Rye shot 269 and PW shot 270. Manitou Springs was third with a 287 score.

Varsity Golf Team Travels to Loveland

The Rye High School Girls golf team continues to play solid golf. On April 10 the traveled to the Loveland Olde Course and placed 14th out of 31 teams with a score of 289. Windsor (4A) won the event with a score of 248.Emma Garcia led the locals with a course score of 90. Kelsy Stribling shot a 99.

Rye Baseball Team Rolls to Three Wins

The Rye High School baseball team outscored a pair of opponents 47-3 last week and easily won three games to move their record to 5-3 and 2-1 in league play.On April 2, Rye hosted Florence and downed the visitors 17--2.

The Rye High School Girls’golf team placed 7th at the Cheyenne Mountain Invitational Golf Tournament played at the Country Club of Colorado on April 2nd. But the 7th place finish is misleading from the standpoint that the Lady Thunderbolts were the top 3A team in the field.

Rye Track Team Brings Home Gold at Steel City Track Meet

Isaiah Guzman won the gold medal in the triple jump at the Steel City Fast Track Invitational held at Dutch Clark Stadium last Friday with a wind aided leap of 41’9”. A second gold, almost went to RHS Senior Jaklyn Newitt who threw the shot put 31’2” but ended up settling for a silver medal instead.
