According to the weather forecast, the temperature is supposed to top out at 69 degrees on Saturday, March 30. The warmer weather will translate into some mighty fine hunting for Easter eggs at the Hoppy Easter Egg Hunt and Bake Sale sponsored by Sangre de Cristo Volunteers for Community.

The El Pueblo History Museum Is offering a Hands-On History Camp from March 25 - 29. This interactive camp will give youngsters in grades 1-8 the chance to explore the fascinating history of how natural resources benefited our ancestors and influenced our way of life.

The Greenhorn Valley Book Club met on Thursday, February 22 to discuss a book as unique as its title. The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride was up for discussion this month and it did prompt a lively discussion.

Each year the Rye High School Leo’s Club plans a trip around Valentine’s Day to visit the veterans at the Spanish Peaks Veterans Community Living Center in Walsenburg. Leo’s Club leader Paula Maroney reports, “ This is one of their favorite activities.

It is time for National FFA Week, celebrated this year from February 17 to February 24. During this week, FFA members, families, and communities come together to share what FFA represents and the positive impact it has on their lives. It’s a time to celebrate agricultural education, leadership development, and all that the FFA stands for.

So many kids these days are looking for a new group to join. There are many reasons for that, for example some kids just want to get out of their comfort zone, or they are trying to find something that inspires them for the future ahead of them. The TSA organization is all about learning new things. Students get to work on different competitions and compete at state with those projects. Students also work on different fundraisers throughout the year, service projects, and leadership projects.

Rye Elementary School is participating in the Motheread/Fatheread reading program. This innovative program is for parents, grandparents, caregivers, guardians, etc. to come together to discuss how to share a children’s book at home with their kids and help them to explore certain themes with their children.

“What do I do now?” Shayla Simpson asked herself when she, husband Robert, and their two daughters moved to the Colorado City/Rye area from Gutherie, Oklahoma. Robert had taken a job and moved to the company headquarters of the Professional Bull Riders Association in Pueblo.

Nine-year-old Brett Repka of Colorado City, competed in the Burton Bash Wrestling Tournament at Widefield High School on Saturday, November 4th. Brett took first place in both the 10U and 12U age brackets, at 64 pounds.
