Soccer Team Falls to Alamosa

The Rye High School Girls’ Soccer team continues to struggle offensively as they lost a 5-0 match to Alamosa, in Alamosa on April 18. “The defense played well but when you’re on your heels the entire game you eventually give up goals,” assessed Head Coach Mike Wing.

The Rye High School baseball team won two of three games last week, but continued to be plagued by errors and walks surrendered. “We are taking the right path in practice,” pondered Head Coach Stacey Graham, “but I’m not sure what’s happening in the games.

Sophomore Emma Garcia and Freshman Olivia Donlon placed first and third in the Santa Fe League Girls’ Golf Tournament and Rye High School finished in the number one spot, 19 strokes ahead of second place Swallows Charter Academy.

Track Team Has 39 Personal Bests Last Week

Between the Ray Headley Invitational held in Swink and the Thunder Storm Invitational held at CSUPueblo, the Rye High School track team registered 39 personal bests, according to Connor Pigg, boys track Head Coach. Twenty-two teams participated in Swink on April 7.

Soccer Team Notches Road Win Against Florence

Sophomores Avery Velez, and Mazzy Miller each scored a goal, and almost the entire Rye High School team got into the game as the Lady T’s downed Florence on the road 2-1 in girls’ soccer. As the score would indicate the match was close throughout the entire contest.

RHS Baseball Team Wins Two of Three Despite 19 Errors

“We have a lot of work to do,” shared Rye High School baseball coach Stacey Graham. “You can’t make 19 errors in three games and push into the playoffs.” Graham’s RHS team won two of three games last week but the contests weren’t pretty.

RYE HIGH SCHOOL Lots of Rye High School Sports Action this Week With Spring Break last week, there were no games for the Rye High School athletes. But there has been plenty on the schedule for this week as classes and sports resume. The baseball team played Tuesday at Florence High School.

2015 State Champion Baseball Coach Returns to Thunderbolt Helm

Rye High School Baseball Coach Stacey Graham took a several year hiatus to try something new, but realized that his true love was coaching and teaching. So, the head coach of the 2015 Rye High School baseball state champion Thunderbolts is back at the helm for his 8th season.

Rye High School Baseball Team Avenges St. Marys’ Post Season Loss

The Rye High School baseball team downed St. Mary’s on the road. The victory was a bit more satisfying than normal since it was St. Mary’s that put Rye out of post-season play last year. The game was tight early but a three-run top of the fifth inning put the Thunderbolts in the lead to stay.
