RYE HIGH SCHOOL Track Team Sets Ten Personal Records at Larry Pickering Invite The Rye High School track team, along with 26 other teams, participated in the 2023 Larry Pickering Centennial Invitational track meet held at Dutch Clark Stadium in Pueblo, sponsored by Pueblo Centennial High School.

Rye Baseball Team Splits First Two Games of the Season

The Rye High School baseball team split a pair of games in their initial week of the 2023 season, downing Florence 10-0 but losing to Pueblo East 17-6. On March 10, Rye downed Florence in a five-inning, run-rule shortened game.

Number Three Centauri Ends Thunderbolt Season

The Rye High School boys basketball season ended against the third seed Centauri Falcons, 51-29 on March 3. “We gave Centauri everything they could handle,” shared Head Coach Lane Sherwood. “The boys have a lot to be proud of this season for sure!

Rye Faces Number Three Seed

Last week my headline indicated that the fate of the Rye High School boys’ basketball team depended on them beating Buena Vista for a second time. I was wrong. Despite a 65-58 loss, Rye will face #3 seed Centauri (18-3) in the regional tournament.

Colorado City Wrestler Qualifies for Girls State Wrestling Tournament

Ivey McAlhany of Colorado City is headed to the CHSAA Girls State Wrestling tournament with a 3rd place finish in CHSAA Region 2 Girls action. McAhlhany placed third in action Friday and Saturday, February 10-11, held in Coronado High School in Colorado Springs.

Rye’s District Hopes Depend on Rematch with Buena Vista

The Rye High School boys’ basketball team played for an opportunity to face #2 seed, The Vanguard School, when they faced Buena Vista, Monday night in a pig-tail game to be played in Rye. Rye beat Buena Vista 51-38 in their only meeting this season.

Rye Girls Basketball Team Back into the Win Column

The Rye High School girls’ basketball team got back into the win column on the 13th of February, downing James Irwin 44-20. Kelsy Stribling scored 13 points, had eight rebounds, two assists and four steals in the victory. Lacie Laca scored nine points and had a dozen rebounds.

Final Week Crucial for RHS Boys Post-Season Invite

In their only action in the past week, the Rye High School boys’ basketball team fell to Manitou Springs on the road 69-52. Brandon Benz returned to action in a big way scoring 25 points, grabbing three rebounds and adding a pair of assists to his performance.

Rye Girls Continue Rebuilding Year

The Rye High School Girls’ basketball team dropped a pair of games and move into the final week of the season continuing to focus on building for the future. Without a single senior, and dealing with a series of injuries, the Lady T’s dropped a pair of games this week.
