Wrestlers Out Dual Trinidad on the Road

The Rye Wrestling Team traveled to Trinidad last Thursday, December 7 and won four out of five contested weight classes. At 126 pounds Andy Prichard won a major decision 12-4 over Trinidad’s Eric Martinez. Rye’s Hyrum Peterson won a 5-3 decision in the 144 lb. weight class over Mathew Garduno.

“It was definitely an exciting start to the season! When you're only three games in, it's always hard to tell just how good we're going to be for the season, and it's hard to judge the strength of the teams we've played until we see them play a few more games.

Four Football Players Honored with Tri Peaks All-League Selections

Four members of the Rye High School Thunderbolt team received first team honors in the Tri Peaks League. Dylan Hurne captured not only first team status but was named the Tri Peaks League Most Valuable Player. Hurney led the league and set a RHS school record with 2044 rushing yards for the season.

Volleyball Team Falls to Eventual Runner-up in 2A State Tournament

“State tournament didn’t pan out like we had hoped but these girls had a heck of a season,” shared Rye High School volleyball coach, Michele Roy. “Unfortunately, we took a loss in the first-round vs Limon. We started the match off well by winning the first set but then started to fall apart.

Mamas and RHS Senior Football Players Team Up

The Rye High School football team was blessed to include nine seniors that everyone, especially their mamas, knew were something special.

Volleyball Heads for State Tournament at Denver Coliseum

The Rye High School girls volleyball team punched their ticket to the 2A state tournament to be held at the Denver Coliseum with a pair of victories in the regional tournament they hosted.

Thunderbolt Football Team Falls Short of Playoff Spot

The football season for the Rye High School Thunderbolt Football team ended in Rocky Ford where the RHS football team won a convincing 42-36 victory. Less the score fool you, Rye led at halftime 35-7 and the Meloneers scored 21 of their 36 points in the final quarter.

Cross Country Season Ends at State Tournament

David Maroney placed 41st out of the 136 best boys’ 2A cross country runners at the 2A State Tournament held at the Norris-Penrose Events Center in Colorado Springs. Maroney completed the 5,000meter course in a time of 17:53.40.
