David Maroney placed 41st out of the 136 best boys’ 2A cross country runners at the 2A State Tournament held at the Norris-Penrose Events Center in Colorado Springs.
Maroney completed the 5,000meter course in a time of 17:53.40. For the year Maroney has the 27th best 2A time in the state when he ran a 17:12.10 in an earlier meet. Maroney is a sophomore.
Andrew Bel of Colorado Springs Christian School, a junior, won the state championship with a time of 16:16.60. Golden View Classical Academy won the team title.
The Rye High School Girls’ team placed 20th. Heritage Christian Academy won the girls’ team title with 37 points.
Nadhia Campos, a junior, from The Vanguard School won the individual title in a time of 18:19.10.
Top finisher for the Rye team of the 123 girls’ who ran was Katie Prichard who finished 104th in a time of 24:49.80. Right behind her was teammate Adriel Snyder who placed 105th in a time of 25:13.50.
Audrey Bowler was 108th in a time of 25:40.20. Right behind her was Mylee Garner who placed 109th in a time of 25:40.80. Clara Chandler was 120th with a time of 28:58.90.
Snyder is a sophomore and the other four girls are juniors.
