Rye Competes in Massive Meet at Alamosa

Over 550 high school boys and girls participated in the Alamosa Invitational Cross-Country meet held at Cattails Golf Course on September 7th.Cheyenne Mountain High School came away as the top team in both divisions.In the boy’s division Rye placed 21st out of 28 schools.

Golf Team Shows Well at Their

The Rye High School golf team hosted their invitational tournament on Thursday, September 5th at Hollydot Golf Course.Twenty-three teams competed with Montezuma Cortez capturing the team title with a score of 232. Rye had a pair of teams playing.

Volleyball Team Wins One at Home and One of the Road

The Rye High School Volleyball team started the season off with a pair of wins last week. On the 27th of August, Rye hosted St.Mary’s and won a deciding fifth game to take the match.“St. Mary’s was a closer match than it should have been,” shared Head Coach Michele Roy.

Gridiron Thunderbolts Led by Most Experienced Rye Coach

Connor Pigg is the Dean of Coaches at Rye High School. The RHS graduate will be starting his 7th year as Head Coach, and 10th year overall with the Thunderbolt football team. He has also coached RHS track for 10 years and spent three years as a wrestling coach and one year in middle school football.

The class of 1969 is inviting everyone that attended School from 1952 thru the year 1976 to a reunion. The invitation includes anyone that attended school during this time, whether you graduated from Rye or not, and includes teachers and staff. Family and friends are also welcome.

RHS Students Receive $1000 Colorado City/Rye Lions Club Scholarships

On May 20, 2024, Lion Fran Holliday had the honor and pleasure of awarding scholarships from the Colorado City/Rye Lions Club. Thanks to the support of our community, we can award three scholarships for $1,000.00 each to three Rye High School graduates.

Garcia Finishes Seventh in State

Rye High School’s Emma Gracia finished the 3A State Golf Tournament in 7th place, shooting 164 in the two-day tournament. Hope Torres of Prospect Ridge won the event with a score of 150 and beat Maddy Bante of St. Mary’s Academy in a one home sudden death. Bante placed 2nd.

Entire Thunderbolt Golf Team Qualify for State

Emma Garcia, Olivia Donlon, Kenzie Nielson, and Kelsy Stribling all qualified for the 3A Golf State Tournament which was held on Monday and Tuesday of this week. The results will be covered in the paper next week.
