Rye Downs Ellicott for Homecoming Victory

The Rye High School football team made Homecoming extra special with a 21-12 victory over Ellicott. The win was the first for the young Thunderbolts this season and they did it with a tough defense and 326 yards rushing for the game.

Rye to Face Ellicott in Homecoming Game

Rye High School head football coach, Connor Pigg, had hoped the start of league play would see a victory for his young Thunderbolt football team. But, the trip to Peyton last week saw the TBolts lose five fumbles and throw two interceptions and end up on the short end of the score, 41-0.

Cross Country Team Shows Well at Canon City Meet

The Rye High School girls’ cross-country team placed 11th and the boys’ team placed 12th in the Canon City Middle School and High School Cross Country Invitational held on the 26th of September.Woodland Park captured the girls title with a team score of 69. Rye placed 11th with a team score of 301.

Rye Volleyball Downs Fowler 3-2

After a busy week last week, the Rye High School volleyball team played a lone road match this week, downing Fowler 3-2. Rye won the first two sets, but then dropped the third and lost a tight one in the fourth set 26-24.

Volleyball Team Splits with Four Schools Last Week

The Rye High School volleyball team played four teams and 16 sets last week while battling sickness along the way. Rye faced two of those teams in the friendly confines of their own gymnasium and two on the road. When all was said and done, they ended up 2-2 for the week.

Maroney Places Second in Gunnison Cross Country Meet

David Maroney finished about 30 seconds behind Ezekial Wilson of Salida to win the Silver Medal at the Mountaineer/Cowboy Cross Country Meet 2024 held in Gunnison last week. Wilson ran the course in a time of 16:57.04 and Maroney crossed the finish line in a time of 17:27.67.
