RHS Rolls Over Manitou Springs in Season Opener

The Rye High School football team opened the season with a convincing win over Manitou Springs, 28-3 on the home field.Freshman quarterback, Brady Baumgartner completed 12 of 24 passes for 87 yards and ran for a touchdown.

Golf Team Places First in Lamar and Second in Alamosa

The Rye High School boys golf team continued to play at a torrid pace, capturing the Lamar Invitational title and coming in 2nd at the Alamosa Invitational last week.Last Tuesday at Lamar, RHS won the tournament with a team score of 257, eight strokes ahead of 2nd place St. Mary’s’.

Martinez Looking Forward to Boys Golf Season

Ian Martinez is in full swing as head boys Golf Coach for his third season at Rye High School (RHS). All told, Martinez has coaching experience in golf, baseball, softball and basketball. He will be assisted at RHS by Mike Reilly.

Golf Team Places Second in Initial Outing

The Rye High School boys golf team began their season Friday, August 8, with a trip to La Junta for the Swink Golf Classic.Rye came in second in the 14team tournament a mere five shots behind Monte Vista who won the tournament with a score of 247. Rye shot a 252 as a team.

Burbidge Named Baseball All-Conference

Three members of the Rye High School baseball team made the Santa Fe League All-Conference team.Branson Burbidge made the first team. Burbidge led the Thunderbolts in six categories: batting average, .403; stolen base, 12 (tie); Earned Run Average, 4.

Soccer Players Earn All-League Honors

Three Rye High School girls soccer players were selected to the all-league team for the Black Forest League, and a fourth player was listed as an honorable mention. Perhaps the most important footnote is that three of the four all-league players are only sophomores, which bodes well for Rye Soccer.

Rye High School Brings Home a State Championship

Isaiah Guzman is the finest 2A competitor in the triple jump after winning the state tournament with a jump of 45’ 2.5” in a Rye High School record breaking performance. Guzman is the first state champion from RHS since 2014.Guzman also claimed a silver medal in the long jump with a leap of 21’5”.

Lady Thunderbolts Win Regional Golf Tournament

The Rye High School Girls’ Golf team are regional champions. The Thunderbolt foursome on the friendly confines of the Hollydot Golf Course shot a 253 to claim the title. Kyndra Johnson from Salida won the individual gold with a 76. It was her team, Salida, that Rye beat out by a scant two strokes.
