Rye Linksters Take Top Spot and Second on Subsequent Days

Rye High School claimed the Tri-Peaks League Championship on the Hollydot Golf Course on September 9 with a 17-stroke win over runner-up St. Mary’s.Rye as a team shot a 235 while St. Mary’s came in at 252. Hayden Dorsey Junior of Manitou won the gold with a round of 72.

The Rye High School cross country team competed against seven hundred and seventy-three runners along with a bunch of middle school participants at the Joe I. Vigil Open held in Alamosa last Saturday.Thirty-five boys’ teams competed for the team title which went to Durango with a score of 122.

Rye Golfers Claim their Own Tournament’s Top Spot

The Rye High School boys’ golf team won their own tournament at Hollydot on Wednesday, September 3, finishing ahead of second place Pueblo West and 18 other teams. The four Rye golfers all finished in the top ten of the 80-person tournament.

Volleyball Team Takes 5-0 Record into Pair of Home Contests

The Rye High School volleyball team rolled to three victories, two at home, to up their record to 5--0. Last Tuesday they traveled to Las Animas and won 25-11, 25-3, and 26-24 for a 3-0 sweep.Seine Roy had five service aces, 14 digs, and 13 service receptions.

Golf Team Picks Up a Third and Fourth Place Finish

The Rye High School boys’ golf team placed 3rd at the Pueblo Centennial Invitational Tournament at Walking Stick Golf Course on August 27. As a team Rye shot 252, 20 shots behind tournament winner Pueblo West.Freshman Ty Wood shot a 79 which was good for 5th place.

Rye Cross Country Team Making Progress, Maroney Finishes Third

David Maroney placed third at the Rocky Ford Invitational on August 29th. Seventy-one runners ran in the boys’ division which was won by Joel Davis of Lamar in a time of 15:45.60. Maroney was a little over a minute behind Davis in a time of 16:52.80 for the 3rd place finish.

Volleyball Team Takes Pair of 3-0 Victories

The Rye High School volleyball team won their first matches last week by identical 3-0 scores.On the road against St. Mary’s, Rye won 25-13, 25-13, and 25-17. Junior Kaylee Walton had eight kills, five service aces, one block, and five digs.

Rye Racks up Over 500 All-Purpose Yards Downing Trinidad on the Road

The Rye High School football team rolled to 543 all-purpose yards and got into the endzone six times while the Thunderbolt defense allowed only 160 all-purpose yards to Trinidad on the road, coming away with their second victory of the season 416.
