6th Annual Coat Drive Part of Lions Car Show

As it has been for several years the 6th annual Walker Family Coat Drive will be part of the 9th Annual Colorado City/Rye Lions Club Car show and Craft Fair on October 14th. Coats, gloves, sweaters and boots will be collected at the car show.

Rye Elementary’s Science Day Fun and Educational

YOUR COMMUNITY Rye Elementary held its annual Science Day on Thursday, September 28, in the beautiful Rye Mountain Park. Twenty-five presenters, many of whom were former teachers and current staff members.

RCC Saddle Club to Host Royalty Clinic

It is getting close to time to select a new royalty court for the Rye Colorado City (RCC) Saddle Club, and they want to help the contestants be prepared. There will be a clinic held on Saturday, September 30 for anyone interested in competing for the royalty positions.

Ohlsen Named the 2023 Silver Queen

Former Rye resident Dorothy Ohlsen, currently residing at Bonaventure of Pueblo, was named Pueblo’s 2023 Silver Queen on September 14. Ohlsen, a young 98-year-old, has led an interesting and astounding life.

Tarantulas are on the Move, Looking for Love

They are large and hairy, dark and scary, and they are on the move. It is time for the annual tarantula “migration” in Southern Colorado where thousands of male tarantulas crawl for miles for their mating season. The annual tarantula migration takes place every fall.

From a casual comment by a family member to a one-stop shop for personal care, Mountain Men’s Cuts has come a long way. Brittannii Martinez, owner of Mountain Men’s Cuts, recalled that the driving thought for her business came from a casual comment from her father-in-law, Steve Martinez.
