A Lively, Well Attended Book Club Meeting

A lively discussion with many laughs bonded the Greenhorn Valley Book Club members as they discussed Hester by Laurie Lico Albanese. This book seemed to be voted a winner, although many commented that they didn’t find it stimulating until the second half.

Pueblo County’s Concealed Carry Permit Process Goes Online

The Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office is making the process for applying for and renewing a concealed carry gun permit easier by going to an online format. Effective immediately, all renewal applications for concealed carry permits will be submitted and processed online.

Valley Backpack Ladies Have the Local Students’ Backs

In 2014 a group of Greenhorn Valley ladies noticed a need to help local students to have school supplies. Nancy Romine, Eloise Martucci, and Kathleen Cassidy put their heads together and created Valley Backpacks. The group later incorporated and became a 501 c-3 nonprofit.

Thirteen-Year-Old Wants to Drill a Well in Africa

Every year, 4-5 million children die of dehydration. One in nine people in the world have no access to clean drinking water. In Africa, every year, people spend 40 billion hours walking to the nearest source of clean water. But you don’t have to take my word for it.

Pueblo County Stockmen’s Association Announces New Officers

The Pueblo County Stockmen’s Association (PCSA) announced their newly elected officers after their annual meeting and dinner on Saturday, February 4. Carl Beeman will be heading things up as President, Ron Kroll as Vice President, and Beth Hayes as Secretary.

Greenhorn Valley Book Club is Growing

Greenhorn Valley Book Club hostess and Manager of the Greenhorn Library, Linda Lewis said after the January 26 meeting that she had to report a problem of the best kind to her book supplier. It seems the book club membership has grown to the point that she needs more books sent each month.

Witnessed Accident Leads to Critical Care Career

Trinidad high school student Gabe Martinez and friends came upon what appeared to be a car accident. They pulled over and called 9-1-1. Martinez didn’t know for sure until several weeks later, but he literally watched a guy take his last breath.
