Two Arrested in Connection with Lascar Fire

Although the Lascar Fire is still an active investigation, Collin Bates and Jana Dunn were arrested on March 3, 2026, for their alleged role in that wildfire. Both face multiple felony arson and criminal mischief charges.

Deer Population Counted

Colorado Parks & Wildlife (CPW) conducted the first town deer population in Colorado City & Rye on Thursday, February 19, 2026. The purpose of this survey is to better estimate the size of the local town deer herd. Survey teams counted deer simultaneously across nine designated zones.
