Soccer Team Loses Close Match in Season Opener

The Rye High School girls’ soccer team opened their season on the home turf on March 11 and lost a tightly fought game to Bruce Randolph of Denver 2-1.“Bruce Randolph was a very competitive game where both teams had plenty of chances to win,” shared John Crowell, Thunderbolt Head Coach.

Golf Team has First Meet Monday

The Rye High School girls golf team will begin their season next Monday, March 24th at the La-Junta golf course in a tournament sponsored by Swink High School. Tee off time is at 10 a.m.

Rough Opening Week for Thunderbolt Baseball

T The Rye High School baseball team had a rough go of it in the first week of the season.“We have a lot of work to do,” shared Head Coach Stacey Graham, “on both sides of the ball.Graham, and his young team were shut out by Pueblo East 120 and downed by Gunnison 14-1.

Thunderbolt Girls End Season on Winning Note

The Rye High School girls’ basketball team finished the regular season with a pair of victories after an early week loss.On the 25th Rye traveled to Crowley County and fell to the Chargers, 52-40.

Boys Basketball Team Season Ends on a Victorious Note

The Rye High School boys’ basketball team came up short in a pair of games but ended their season with a solid victory.On the 25th of February, the Thunderbolts traveled to Crowley County and came up on the short end of that contest 78-42.

Boys Drop Two Games Last Week

It was a rough week for Rye High School basketball last week. On Thursday, Rye hosted the #3 team in 4A when Lamar came to town. Although, Rye only trailed 16-10 at the end of the first quarter, Lamar shut the Thunderbolts out 25-0 in the second quarter and rolled to a 65-18 victory.

State Wrestling Tournament Athletes Run into Tough Competition

The four qualifying members of the Rye High School Wrestling team had a rough go of it but managed to place 44th with 3.5 points. Cedaredge captured the State 2A title with a total of 141.5 Points.Scoring the 3.5 points for the Thunderbolts was 175 lb.

Girls Basketball Team Mirrors Boys - Dropping Two

Like the RHS boys team, the Lady Thunderbolts had a rough week last week, dropping a pair of games by a significant number of points.Last Tuesday night, Rye hosted Lamar and fell behind 21-9 in the first quarter. Lamar extended the lead in each additional quarter and ended up with a 63-32 victory.

Boys Basketball Team Wins Two of Three Last Week

The Rye High School boys basketball team won two of three this week, and in their lone loss only came up three points shy after a very slow start.On February 3 Rye traveled to Ellicott and dominated the game from the initial tip-off.

Rye Girls Lose on Road and Win at Home

The Rye girls’ basketball team split a pair of games this week, losing on the road but winning at home.On January 27, the Lady T’s traveled to Manitou Springs and dropped a close 30-26 game against the home team.
