RYE HIGH SCHOOL

The Rye High School cross country team joined nearly 400 runners at the Joe I. Vigil XC Invitational 2022 sponsored by Adams State University in Alamosa.

One hundred and ninety six boys competed in the 5000 meter run won by Isaac Higareda of Alamosa. The senior finished the race in a time of 16:35.14.

Top finisher for Rye was David Maroney who placed 40th with a season best time of 19:09.07. Garret George placed 90th, also posting a season best time of 20:38.83. Colton Hendrickson was 107th and ran a time of 21:13.69. That was his best time of the season.

In 127th place was Timothy Blackhurst who finished in 22:17.72. Jayden Englert was 155th in a season best time of 23:45.31. Thomas Blackhurst had his best time of the season at 26:25.81 which was good for 181st. Carter Ford finished 193rd in a season best time of 27:41.58.

For the girls Quino Smith of Salida won the race in a time of 18:58.91. Smith is a senior. All five girls running for the Thunderbolts also had season best performances.

Mylee Garner placed 133rd out of 186 runners in a time of 27:27.74. Morgan Gallegos ran the course in 28:38.04 which was good for 149th. Clara Chandler finished 150th in a time of 28:56.58.

Gwenda Larson was 183rd in a time of 37:38.71 and Stephanie Bak ran the 5,000 meters in a time of 41:53.95 which put her in 186th.
