Rye Boys On the Bubble for Post-Season Play

“The Rye High School Boys’ Basketball team are hanging onto hopes for post season action but the final nod will not come before league play is completed. Head Coach Dakota Stupar indicated that the final process will be completed either Wednesday night or Thursday, both after press time.

The boys split a pair of games last week and had their final league contest Tuesday night (again after press time) at Rocky Ford.

Last Tuesday night Rye traveled to Hoehne and came away with a 38-32 victory. Branden Benz led the team with 20 points and Jay Graham added nine points in the low scoring contest. Graham also had 10 rebounds and three assists in the victory.

Codah Graber grabbed 16 rebounds and blocked a shot. Dillon Robertshaw had three steals. Rye shot 29% from the floor and 61% from the free-throw line.

On Thursday night Rye traveled to Swink and dropped that contest 48-36. Benz again led scorers with 18 points and Camden Steele added eight points. No other statistics were available at press time.

As of Tuesday morning, Stupar’s best guess was that Rye would host Swink next Monday night. Swink and Rye have split the two games they have played this season. Rye has a 12-6 record and are 7-3 in the Santa Fe League. Swink is 7-11 overall and 3-9 in league play.
