Golfers Open Well in Rocky Ford Invite

The Rye High School Girls’ Golf team placed 4th in their initial outing of the year at the Rocky Ford Invitational. Emma Garcia, a freshman, won the silver medal for Rye shooting a 107. Kenzie Ensor, Swink, was the gold medalist with a score of 92. Swink also won the team championship shooting a 316. Rye shot a 346.

Paige Hyatt shot a 116 and placed 10th for the Thunderbolts. She was followed by Abbigail Sammons who shot a 123 and placed 18th overall.

Kelsy Stribling was 29th overall with a score of 129. Gianna Baker shot a 135 and placed 35th. Kenzie Nielson was 40th with a score of 141.

“Overall, I am very impressed with the team after this first tournament,” shared Head Coach Anna Jordan. “There were a lot of nerves going in which did help the first few holes, but the girls were able to reign in emotions and shoot a great round.”

Tuesday, Rye competed at the Trinidad Invitational. Today (Thursday) they traveled to Fowler for the Fowler Invitational. See the View next week for results.
