Wrestling Coach Billy Forell returns for his third season as the Head Coach of the Rye High School grapplers. Returning with him will be defending 182 lb. state champion Remington Peterson. Peterson is a senior.
Although practice hasn’t officially begun, Forell is certain Peterson will be joined by senior Gage Schaap; junior Devon Samuelson, and freshman Andy Pritchard.
Branden Peterson and Jeff Moats will assist Forell with the Thunderbolt team.
Forell looks toward Rocky Ford and John Mall as the powerhouses in the Santa Fe League. But, with the individual aspect of wrestling, Forell feels like everyone has the potential to make the trip to state.
“I think all four wrestlers will have a shot at making it to the state tournament,” he philosophized. “But you never know until you get there.”
