Joann Yvonne Gann, 94, of Rye, Colorado passed away July 13, 2024, at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo. Joann was born on July 4, 1930, in Wray, Colorado, the daughter of Kenneth Lee and Mildred Shanlep Rounds. Joann married her husband William Lee Gann, Sr of more than 57 years on December 18, 1949 in Englewood, Colorado, whom proceeded her death in August of 2007. Joann is survived by her children William 'Bill' Lee Gann Jr., Rye, CO, Robert Warren (Lawana) Gann, Amarillo, TX, Patricia Ann Ferguson, Rye, CO, Sandra Kay (Trey) Williams, and Grand children Dr. Katie Gann, Kristin Cassels, Adam Gann, Brittany Ferguson Thomas.
Joann always loved the outdoors with her family when they were young fishing, hiking, gathering wood, taking pictures, making all kinds of homemade nutritional health foods daily. Mom had always longed for another Bulldog as 'they had 4 raise them'. She loved her nightly Jeapordy challenges, had quite the taste in so many different genres of music, had a great taste in beer and never hesitated to try any new dark brews or IPA's...but only 'one' a day, that was her limit. She enjoyed visiting with her neighbors and friends when she was out at the store or when the came by to see her or called her on the phone. She had so many one liners that even when she wasn't feeling very good, she made you laugh, this is who she was and what she did....even would keep the Rye Fire Department entertained on the way in to Pueblo in the Ambulance even having a heart attack...she just told joke after joke.
The family is planning a get together at her home at 8151 Pine Drive in Rye on September 28, 2024 from noon to 5. They will have some snacks and refreshments. Please come by and share your stories and a laugh or two with the family.
