COLORADO CITY
Despite a chilly start, the 2022 Colorado City/Rye Lions Club Car Show turned out spectacularly.
Approximately 70 cars and over 20 vendors packed the Greenhorn Meadows Park on Saturday, October 8, in a vivid and varied display of vehicles and wares.
Mike Simpson took home the First-Place Prize from the 8th Annual Lions Club car show with his stunning, bright-blue, 1931 Buick.
The normally quiet park was transformed into a hive of activity as the community flocked to see the cars. The car show participants came prepared to offer candy in a trunk-or-treat manner in keeping with the Halloween theme for the show.
Lions District Governor 6SE Geoff Clothier was visiting to help judge the Halloween costumes and cars, as well as help Lions President and car show organizer Donna Walker-Hulben hand out trophies.
The Lions Club handed out goody bags to the car participants, door prizes to the viewers, and held a very successful 50/50 raffle.
In a tribute to such a wellrun car show, many of the entries were repeat participants and only a few bowed out due to questionable weather the day before.
