Both Mylee Garner and David Maroney, not only finished the best for the Rye Thunderbolt Cross Country team at the St. Vrain Cross Country Invitational 2022, but set season best marks in the process. The meet was hosted by Lyons High School.
Maroney placed 38th out of 202 finishers with a season best time of 19:03.50. Sean Beasley of Jefferson Academy won the 2A-3A event with a time of 16:51.50. Garret George finished 111th in a time of 21:11.90.
Timothy Blackhurst came in 129th in a time of 21:55.90. Carter Ford also set a season best mark of 27:23.20 and finished 198th. Teammate Thomas Blackhurst finished one slot behind Ford in 199th place with a time of 28:16.90.
Jefferson Academy won the team event. The Thunderbolts placed 21st as a team.
Garner finished 87th out of 131 runners in her season best performance time of 26:21.30. Allison Pippert of Stargate High School won the event in a time of 18:40.90.
Morgan Gallegos finished 118th for Rye with a time of 29:17.80. Clara Chandler finished in a time of 29:24.40 for 119th place, right behind Gallegos. Ivey McAlhany rounded out the Thunderbolt runners with a 126th place finish in a time of 31:40.50.
Resurrection Christian won the girls’ team event.
The cross-country team will be at home on Friday, when they host a cross country event at the Hollydot Golf Course. The event begins at 3 p.m.
