Eight Thunderbolts Score on Hapless Center

Eight different Rye High School football players put points on the board as the Thunderbolts demolished Center on the home field 4816.

Rye scored four touchdowns on the ground and two through the air while the defensive unit sacked the Center play caller seven times in the second non-conference victory of the year for the locals.

The Hurne brothers rushed for 260 yards. Caleb carried the ball six times for 133 yards, including one 95-yard romp, and a pair of touchdowns while younger brother, Dylan carried the pigskin nine times for 127 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Quarterback Nolan Schauer completed nine passes on 13 attempts for 178 yards and connected with seniors Taye McCauley and Riley Rochester for touchdowns. McCauley and Rochester each caught the ball three times and between them had 160 of the 178 yards through the air.

Jose Martinez had seven tackles including two sacks and blocked a punt. Codah Graber had seven tackles and intercepted a Center pass. Derick Bak had six tackles and a sack.

Rye travels to Trinidad this Friday. Trinidad is winless at 0-3. Rye is 2-1. The game is a non-conference affair. Rye is currently ranked 15th in the Max Preps 1A poll.
