The Pueblo County Stockmen’s Association (PCSA) has had a busy summer. Barely catching their breath from their Ranch Hand Contest in late July, they moved rapidly on to numerous events at the state fair. Before the fair ended, they already had solid plans for a horse show and BBQ in conjunction with the Southern Colorado Horseman’s Association (SCHA).
Trying something new this year for their late summer/ early fall get-together, the PCSA replaced the traditional annual BBQ at the 3R ranch with a visit to the equally historic and fascinating Hatchet Ranch.
While the PCSA cooked up hamburgers, brats, and hotdogs with all the fixings, Hatchet Ranch Events hosted and donated stock for the SCHA jackpot event.
Traditional western attire was required by participants as they ran barrels, poles, or flags and participated in breakaway roping.
PCSA reported turnout at the event was great and everything went off without a hitch despite a cool and foggy start to the morning.
