Colorado City Metropolitan District Board voted approval of Resolution 07-2022, which adopted a change in the meeting agenda so that a report of dam and water storage conditions will be read at each bimonthly CCMD meeting. The report will include the weekly dam inspection report of lake level, the four-inch pipe flow, the six-inch pipe flow, seepage, weir flow, pit condition, the date and time of the inspection, and the name of the inspector. The date the report is forwarded to the Colorado Division of Water Resources and to the District Engineer will also be included.
The resolution passed with a unanimous vote and the directors seemed to be looking forward to the information. Board Chairman Neil Elliot commented he had spoken with Mark Perry regarding the state water regulations and that CCMD needed to act on this as their time was running out. Director Greg Collins advised that he had also spoken to Mark Perry and been advised that CCMD was still not in compliance with reporting regulations.
The board voted to have a tree branch drop-off center established at the Colorado City gravel pit for the dates of June 20, 22, and 24. Colorado City residents could drop off tree branches on those dates from 9-3 on Monday and Wednesday and from 9-1 on Friday.
Establishing a resolution to allow all-terrain vehicles (ATV) to be operated on Colorado City streets was discussed. Collins said he had done extensive research on the matter after a citizen’s request, and found that many cities are allowing this. He had also contacted Pueblo County Commissioner Garrison Ortiz, who asked that if CCMD approved the resolution that it be forwarded to him to see if Pueblo County roads could be included. The board listened to input regarding this matter and Collins said he would work on the resolution wording and present it for a vote at the next meeting.
An offer for Lot 4 of Unit 27 in the amount of $3000 was accepted by the board. The purchasers plan to give the lot as a prize in the upcoming disc golf tournament to kick off the Darren Butcher Memorial Disc Golf Course on June 25.
A pasture grazing lease was approved for CCMD to lease out designated land near the gravel pit for up to five horses.
Two Colorado City Architectural Advisory Committee applications for new home builds were approved for construction. An offer of $3500 for Lot 14, Unit 35 was voted to be counter-offered at $4000.
The board approved a request that CCMD provides a letter of support to Misty Sprague for the Valley First organization that is trying to obtain grant funds to help with updates in Greenhorn Meadows Park. Eccher is working on the

The utility manager position has been posted and so far, one applicant has expressed interest. The board voted to set up an interview with the interested party even though the CCMD finance manager cautioned there were no funds available in the 2022 budget to pay salary and benefits for the position. Chairman Elliot questioned the status of selecting a new auditor. Eccher has been working on the process for some time and Elliot says the board needs some information in July.
