The May 2, 2022, Greenhorn Valley Chamber of Commerce meeting saw many changes happening. In the elections, Mike Bowler was elected President; David Chucka, Vice-President; Carlie Leach, Treasurer; Brad Azuremar, Secretary, and Josh Walker joined the Board of Directors.
Bowler made a recommendation to hire a Chamber director. After some discussion, Chucka made a motion to recommend conducting a study to see if a director position is viable. The motion to conduct a study regarding the matter passed.
Walker advised of a new Greenhorn Valley Resident Small Business and Services Directory that is going to be published. The board approved a motion for the Chamber to purchase a halfpage ad for $600.
The Annual Rueben Espinoza Fishing Derby is set to be held on Saturday, May 7, with registration starting at 7:00 a.m. This free event promises to be fun for everyone. Winners with the largest fish in the two age categories will win a tackle box or a new fishing pole donated by Ace Hardware. The contest will run from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and awards will be given at 1:00 p.m.
In addition to the fishing fun and contests, there will be a bouncy house set up. Azuremar volunteered to run the concession stand and sell a hot dog lunch for just $3.
The Chamber voted to reserve a table at Valley First’s Swing into Spring event to be held on May 14, at 9:00 a.m. in Greenhorn Valley Park. Walker and Azuremar volunteered to run the table.
A motion was made and passed to cancel the Chamber’s EXPO, and for the Chamber members to help with the Rye Fire Protection District’s Fire Run.
The Casino Night date will be moved to July 23 and the event will be moved to the Community Center. The Chamber is checking on the possibility of holding a pool party for children simultaneously.
Lacey Briggs suggested that donors or contributors should have their banners made and kept on hand for future events.
A motion to table the discussion about membership until the next meeting on June 6 was passed.
