Soccer Team Drops Three Last Week

The Rye High School girls soccer team came up short in a trio of matches last week. That drops their overall record to 3-3 and 1-1 in league.

The Rye High School girls soccer team came up short against the Vanguard Coursers on April 5th dropping a 6-3 decision on the road. Sydney Adamson scored two of the goals and Corey Allee scored the other goal.

Sophie Adamson had three assists and Brianna Prichard had seven steals. Rye trailed 4-0 at half but outscored Vanguard 3-2 in the second half.

Kaitlyn Taylor and Stephanie Bak split goalkeeping duties. Taylor allowed two goals and had 11 saves while Bak allowed four goals and had nine saves.

Two days later at home, Rye led Colorado Springs School 4-2 at but were outgunned 5-1 in the second half for a 7-5 loss.

Sophie Adamson scored four goals and Desiree Ruiz scored the other goal. Prichard had half a dozen steals and Sydney Adamson had two assists. Morgan Elarton also had four steals.

Taylor allowed two goals and had seven saves, while Bak allowed five goals and had six saves.

The final match of the week was on Saturday when Rye hosted Buena Vista. Rye was down 2-0 at half and outscored BV 4-3 in the second half but that left them a point shy in the final tally.

The statistics for Sydney and Sophie Adamson were identical (pun intended for the identical twins). They both scored a pair of goals, had two assists each and three steals each.

Bak played the entire match at goalie and allowed the five goals and had 24 saves.

No comments were received from Coach Mike Wing before press time. Rye travels to Lamar tonight (Thursday) and Fountain Valley on Saturday.

Lamar is currently 7-0 and is ranked in the Top 10 in 2A although updated rankings have not come out this week yet. Fountain Valley is currently 2-2. Rye is 3rd in the Black Forest League.
