Eight T-Bolts Earn Santa Fe League First Team Honors

The three Rye High School winter sports were rife with talent and other coaches in the Santa Fe League were well aware of it as eight Thunderbolts were voted first team all-conference with a pair gathering honorable mention status.

In the basketball teams who are members of the Santa Fe League the Rye coaches nominate players but are not allowed to vote for players from their own team. Those are voted on by the other coaches.

In the wrestling all-league selections, the all-league selections are wrestlers who placed first in the league tournament.

The Rye High School girls basketball team placed four on the all-conference first team. The Lady T’s placed third in the state, the highest place ever for the girls’ basketball team.

They ended the season with a 26-1 record and were 13-0 in the Santa Fe League. Sydney Adamson was selected first team. Sydney led the team in scoring with 19.6 ppg. She also led the Thunderbolts in steals with 4.8 per game and was second in assists with 4.9. Twin sister, Sophie

Adamson was voted all conference. Sophie averaged 16.1 ppg, second on the Ryeteam. She led in rebounds with 6.5 per game and led in assists with 5.2 per game. She was second in steals with 3.9 per game. Both of the girls are seniors. Gracie Graham, also a senior, was elected to the allconference team. Gracie was third on the team with 2.5 steals per game and averaged 3.7 ppg.

Sophomore Jordan Holgerson-Rahl was first team all-conference. Rahl was second on the team in rebounds with 5.7 per game. She was third in scoring with 9.9 ppg. She was also third in assists with 3.7 per game. Morgan Elarton, a senior, the other starter for the Thunderbolts was elected honorable mention Santa Fe all-league. The Colorado Coaches of

The Colorado Coaches of Girls’ Sports also elected Sydney and Sophie Adamson to the All-Star team. Senior Camden Steele was one of two members of the boys’ basketball team to be selected all-conference in the Santa Fe League.

Camden led the Thunderbolts in rebounds with 5.5 per game. He was second on the team in points scored with a 9.3 ppg average and second in steals with 1.0 per game. He was third in assists with 1.1.

Sophomore Branden Benz was selected first team allconference in the Santa Fe League. Branden scored a team high 12.3 ppg. He also led the Rye team in steals with 1.6 per game.

Senior Brock Benz was elected honorable mention Santa-Fe all-league.

A pair of senior wrestlers were Santa Fe League allconference. Remington Peterson went undefeated and won his second consecutive state championship. Peterson ended with a perfect 33-0 record in the 195 lb. class.

Gage Schaap was also Santa Fe League all-conference. Schaap won the district title and ended up the season 20- 13 in the 138 lb. class.
