Rye Girls’ Basketball Completes Regular Season Undefeated

The Rye High School Girls’ basketball team defeated Rocky Ford on their home court 62-33 last Tuesday to complete a perfect 19-0 season and go into the District 6, 2A tournament as the top seed.

The Lady-T’s led 17-6 at the end of the first quarter and 34-15 at halftime to keep their perfect streak intact. Sydney Adamson scored 17 points, had half a dozen assists and half a dozen steals in the victory. Morgan Elarton scored 14 points and had eight steals in the victory. Sophie Adamson had seven rebounds as did Gracie Graham. Graham also had four assists. Jordan Holgerson-Rahl had four assists and blocked a shot.

Tuesday night Rye faced Las Animas (8-12) on the Rye High School court for the right to advance to a 7:30 game tonight (Thursday) against the winner of the Holly – Fowler contest.

The other half of the bracket contains Swink, Crowley County, Hoehne, and Rocky Ford. The winner of that half of the bracket will face the winner of the bottom half of the bracket Friday night at 6 p.m. The Thursday and Friday games will be in LaJunta.

The top three finishers will advance to the 32-team bracket at Regionals.
