Rye High School track coach and educator Connor Pigg was one of the speakers at a CHSCA (Colorado High School Coaches Association) coaches clinic February 4-5 in preparation for the upcoming season. Pigg offered to fill in when a scheduled speaker who was slated to discuss the throwing events of a track meet cancelled.
Pigg shared, “I wanted the throw coaches to have an opportunity to learn and grow so I offered to present.” Pigg who has coached track for seven years described the event, “It was a really neat experience to be able to share what I have learned in my seasons coaching track. I discussed how to coach shot put and discus specifically, practice planning, and how to structure for a full season and develop an every-athlete approach.”
About 40 coaches from all classification of Colorado High School track attended the event. There were many speakers from both the college and high school level.
The clinic was held at the Radison Inn in Cherry Creek.
