Post Christmas Break RHS Sports Begins Next Wednesday

The Rye High School Sports teams get back into action after Christmas break on Wednesday January 4 when the boys’ and girls’ basketball teams travel to Colorado Springs to face Atlas Preparatory School. The girls take the court at 5:30 p.m.

Wrestlers Finish 16th in 30 Team Tournament

The Rye Wrestling team placed 16th out of 30 teams at the Pete and Ina Gomez Invitational wrestling tournament held in Walsenburg at John Mall High School last Saturday. Trinidad captured the team title with 184.5 points. Rye scored 41 points again led by 113 lb.

Wrestlers Place Well in Limon Tournament

Led by a third-place finish by 113 lb. Andy Prichard and some other successes throughout the team the Rye High School Thunderbolts placed 16th at the 27 team Limon Badger Invitational last Saturday. Rye finished with 35 points.

Rye Girls Struggle on the Road

The Rye High School Girls’ Basketball Team found the road very unfriendly dropping games in LaJunta, 29-46 and Salida, 24-49, last week Against LaJunta on the 6th of December, Alaina Bourgeois scored nine points, had nine rebounds, and three steals in the loss in which LaJunta built a 26-8 halftime...

RHS Picks up League Victory Over LaJunta

The Rye High School Boys Basketball team outshot LaJunta 48% to 32% from the field and sophomore Isaiah Guzman scored 20 points, as the Thunderbolts won their initial league game of the season on the road, 53-46. The Thunderbolts are 3-0 for the season.

Rye Wrestling Team at Woodland Park and Rocky Ford

The Rye High School Wrestling team started their season at full tilt with a dual match in Woodland Park last Thursday and a team tournament at Rocky Ford on Saturday. At Woodland Park on Thursday the seven Thunderbolt wrestlers won three matches and lost four. Andy Prichard, 113 lbs.

The Rye High School football team dominated the Tri-Peaks League All-Conference selections with seven players landing first team recognition and two receiving honorable mention.

Boys Roundball Team Wins First Two

New coach Lane Sherwood and the 2022-23 edition of the Rye High School boys basketball team won their first two games of the season on their home court last weekend. On Thursday night, Rye dominated Swallows Academy 55-12.

Young Wrestling Team Will Open Season at Home Tonight

Billy Forell begins his fourth year as Head Coach of the Rye High School wrestling team. The team will officially open the season, tonight, when they host a dual with Woodland Park at 6:00 p.m. at the Rye High School gym.
