Track Team Grabs Two Medals at State

Madison Heasley officially became the second best 2A girls discus thrower in the state at the Colorado State Championships held at Jeffco Stadium from May 14-16. Heasley threw the disc 119’4” to claim the silver medal, eclipsed only by Brooke Schmidt of Wiggins. Heasley’s throw was a personal best.

Rye Baseball, Punching their Ticket to Playoffs

Rye’s win against Las Animas on Tuesday, May the 12th, finalized their ride to the playoffs at the 17th seed. It was a competitive game that came down to the wire, which resulted in Rye coming up with a clutch win to end off the regular season.

Entire Golf Team Headed to State

The Rye High School girls golf team competed in three tournaments in the final week of the regular season, winning two of the tournaments and placing second in the third tournament.

Rye Nine Playing Well Headed into Post Season

A week ago, Rye was fairly certain of a playoff spot in baseball post season but had some tough games coming up. Peyton, ranked #9 by MaxPreps and Front Range Christian ranked #16 were facing the #22 ranked Thunderbolts. Both were games on the road.

Track Team Sends Six to State

Six Rye High School students will participate in the 2A state track and field championships beginning on May 14 in Lakewood, Colorado. The six have qualified in nine events. Senior David Maroney qualified in three events: 800-meter, 1600 meter and the 3200-meter run.

Soccer Season Ends with Hard Fought Loss

The Rye High School Girls; soccer teams season ended last week with a pair of losses and a season ending 4-9-1 record. Rye finished strong, but dropped a pair of games including one by a lone point.On the 28th of April Rye traveled to Thomas MacLaren.

Thunderbolts Sweep Double Header Against Hoehne

The Rye High School baseball team moved their record to .500 with a double header victory over Hoehne, 10-3 and 15-1. Those victories leave the Thunderbolts with a 10-10 record and 5-4 in the league which is good for 4th place.

Tough Stretch of Four Games in Five Days

Rye’s baseball team had no time to catch their breath last week, participating in games from April 20th through the 25th. Their first game of the week was a hardfought battle between Lamar with the final score of 15 to seven.

Girls Golf Team Wins One, Struggles with One

The Rye High School Girls golf team captured another team title last Monday, but struggled a bit on Wednesday and ended up in 5th place.The Pueblo West Lady Cyclone Tournament held at Desert Hawk golf course on Monday, saw the Thunderbolts capture the top team spot.
