Marie Antonietta Hamler

It is with love and gratitude that we celebrate the life of Marie Antonietta Hamler. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she lived a long and remarkable life surrounded by the family she cherished.

Born November 22, 1928 in Rome, Italy to Giovanni DeAngelis and Guglielma Matani, Antonietta grew up with a deep appreciation for tradition and family. She met her husband, Calvin, in Rome where he was stationed during WWII. At the age of 18, she bravely traveled to the United States, where within one year, she became fluent in English and gained her citizenship. On their farm in the Greenhorn Valley, Antonietta and Calvin built a life which was rooted in love, hard work and resilience. Her home was always open and filled with the warmth of her cooking. Nothing made Mom happier than to spend hours in her kitchen, preparing amazing meals to share with family and friends. Many in the community knew her from her decades working at the Colorado City Metro district, or from her most recent job at the Colorado City Post Office. Our Mother leaves behind countless memories that will be forever treasured. She was preceeded in death by her husband of 60 years, Calvin and oldest son Bill (Linda) Hamler. She is survived by her 5 children, Calvin Hamler, Elena Stom, Ralph (Betty) Hamler, Stephanie (Ray) Sikes, John (Michele) Hamler; as well as 21 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren, her niece Suzan (Steve) Burger and nephew Don (Kelley) Kyle. Surviving family in Rome, include her sister in law Santina Matani, nephew Alberto (Marco, Francesco) Cioni and niece Laura (Lorenzo, Andrea) Cioni. A funeral mass will be held on October 4th at 11:00 AM at St.

Aloysius Catholic Church in Rye, Colorado, with a reception to follow. A private interment will be held at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Colorado City Fire and Rescue Department or Brookside Cemetery.
