John Martin Lohse

passed away at the age of 65 on June 21, 2025. He was born in Harvey, Illinois to John L and Barbara (Heaton) Lohse on December 1, 1959.

John lived his life to its fullest and took some wrong turns on the way but was able to recover from a 20 year addiction and stay clean for 24 years.

He became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints September 2019. He lived by his faith and served others in any way he could.

John was a master cabinet maker and woodworker. He also enjoyed using his laser engravers and 3D printers. He loved painting the 3D models he made. In the last few years he was a cherished team member of In Tree Cuts and shared his talents at local craft fairs in Colorado.

John was a kind and generous soul. He was willing to help anyone he knew. At first glance he could be intimidating but his kindness showed through and he was loved by many. John was an advocate of the LBGTQ+ community and didn’t judge people.

John is survived by his mother, Barbara Heaton, his fiancé, Cindy Goranson, 4 daughters, his uncle Bill Withey and cousins. He also has a large family in the Rye ward of the LDS church.

A memorial service will be held on July 12 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2131 Coolidge Ave, Rye Co 81069. A zoom broadcast of the service will be available to those who wish to attend but can’t make the drive.
