Mountain Park Benefits from 2016 De-Brucing

The Rye Mountain Park benefitted from 2016 Ballot Question 1A, a de-brucing proposal that passed comfortably, allowing the Pueblo County Commissioners to keep excess taxes collected with the caveat that 20 identified recreation programs would be funded.

Mountain Valley Patriots Hosts Informative BOE Candidate Forum

The 2021 Pueblo District 70 school board race has drawn fourteen candidates vying for the five slots that make up District 70’s Board of Education. Eight of the fourteen candidates attended a forum hosted by the Mountain Valley Patriots in Colorado City on Sunday, October 24, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.

Valley residents care about their children and the quality of education they are receiving, and they are not shy about letting the District 70 (D70) Board of Education (BOE) know it. At the October 19, BOE Zoom meeting, two of the three citizens' correspondence letters read were from Rye residents.

On the evening of Saturday, October 23, several callers reported to Rye Fire Protection District that underbrush and multiple juniper trees were on fire in the area of 9500 Abbey Road. The area had gusty winds at that time that were pushing the fire to the east.
