VOLUNTEERS FOR COMMUNITY

On October 15, 2022, the Sangre de Cristo Volunteers for Community (VFC) will celebrate the GRAND OPENING of its Susan Kalman Peaks to Prairie Community Center. The festivities will begin at 3:00 p.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. After the ribbon cutting there will be an open house, during which people will have an opportunity to tour the newly rehabilitated building. At 6:00 p.m. we will hold a free Blues Concert, featuring internationally known musician Ken Saydak on piano and Mark Craddock on sax. The building is located at 4705 Santa Fe Drive in Colorado City.

Rehab of the building began in 2017 following ecofriendly and energy efficient guidelines. Completion of the building would not have been possible without the generous donations, grants, and arduous work from Pueblo County Commissioners, TC Associates, HGF Architects, San Isabel Electric, Highline, Corsentino Construction, and Colorado City Metro District.

A special “thank you” goes to our donated labor providers: Neil Elliot, Larry Fogle, and many who volunteered their time and skills. The building will offer rooms for classes, meetings, and events. Call Judi Patrick at 719-504-8018 or 719-6763272 for availability and details. VFC looks forward to bringing more concerts to the community in the future.
