What to Expect at the 150th Colorado State Fair

PUEBLO COUNTY

Pueblo, Colo. — The 150th Colorado State Fair kicks off this Friday, when the Colorado State Fairgrounds in Pueblo will be bustling with hundreds of activities aimed at delighting fairgoers both young and old. This year’s State Fair runs through Labor Day, Monday, September 5, 2022 and will be a sesquicentennial celebration filled with special events and attractions, as well as returning beloved fair favorites.

“The fair only comes around once a year, and this time we’re really amping up the fun and attractions. Our 150th celebration includes amazing concerts, competitions, livestock shows, and food – everything we love about the State of Colorado!” said Scott Stoller, Colorado State Fair General Manager.

“We cannot wait to see you all there!”

This year’s special events and attractions include a 150-ton Colorado State Fair sand sculpture by Sandscapes, the USA Mullet Championship, History Colorado’s Power of Horses exhibit, and a commemorative firework display to end celebrations on Labor Day. Another new feature will be the Colorado Proud Farm Trail, an interactive exhibit for children featured in the Agriculture Pavilion, and visitors can also enjoy the creation of the World’s Largest Slopper.

Additionally, free concerts will be held throughout the 11 days of the fair at other outdoor locations, including Firefall, ZZ-3 (a ZZ Top tribute band), and many others.

Returning are fan favorites such as the World Slopper Eating Championship, the Governor’s Plate competition, featuring nine food trucks from across the state using Colorado Proud ingredients, the PRCA RAM Rodeo, SECOM/SECPA Ranch rodeo, the Toughest Monster Truck Tour, as well as the largest carnival of rides in the Rocky Mountains.
