A friend of mine sent me a text with a picture of a hand written sign. The sign indicated the following: 1960’s - Oil will be gone in 10 years 1970’s - Another ice age will take place in the next 10 years 1980’s - Acid Rain will destroy all of the crops in 10 years 1990’s - The Ozone layer will be gone in 10 years and the earth will burn up 2000’s - The ice caps will melt in the next 10 years, flooding the earth.
Of course, since it’s 2024, we know that none of those things happened. With each of these, though, our taxes went up and, when we realized they were not going to become a reality, the taxes didn’t go back down. Did they?
Fear seems to be a pretty consistent tool for the government, for medicine, and for both political parties to use to keep us in line.
I recently went in for my annual physical. My primary care doctor shared multiple options of vaccinations/shots he would suggest that would prevent horrendous things from happening. One of those suggestions was a shingle’s vaccine. In an article disseminated by the AARP they told me that one out of three people will get shingles with complications getting worse as you age. Half of those that live till 85, according to the article, will experience at least one episode.
Yikes, that’s scary. Of course, I pretty much decided the AARP was not a trusted source in my life when they endorsed Obama Care. But, regardless… What they didn’t tell us in the story was that if you get a rash that meets possible shingles criteria and you get it checked within a 72-hour window, they can stop it in its tracks. No muss, no fuss, and significantly less expensive than some of the places that sell the shingles vaccine. I know this because of personal experience. Lori, my wife, got shingles and an early doctor visit stopped it in its tracks.
The COVID vaccine was probably the classic scare you to death disease, combined with government intervention. I won’t relive all of that horror story and the huge number of people who died from COVID, but an article in Forensic Science International and released on line on June 21 of this year, indicated that a systematic review of autopsy findings in deaths after a COVID-19 vaccination found that “73.9% of deaths were directly due to or significantly contributed to by COVID-19 vaccination.”
One of the reasons for publishing the review was to help provide the medical and forensic community a better understanding of COVID-19 vaccine fatal and adverse events.
Bet you haven’t read that anywhere else, have you?
Lots of fear and harassment was used to get us into those vaccination lines when maybe the powers that be should have warned us away from them?
Live Science in an article dated May 31, 2024 says, “We may never run out of oil, though known reserves are expected to last for about 50 years, current estimates suggest.”
You and I pay a lot for oil products because our government doesn’t want us to use the resources the earth holds.
Climate.gov in a February 24 publication said, “Earth has experienced cold periods and warm periods on roughly 100,000-year cycles for at least the last 1 million years. The last of these ice age glaciations peaked* around 20,000 years ago.”
I could continue down the list. Not that bad things don’t happen. Not that we shouldn’t make reasonable, prudent efforts to stay healthy and safe. Not that we shouldn’t do our best to conserve the natural resources we have.
But when you get bombarded by the media, or the government, or friends and neighbors telling you to subject yourself to the most recent fear, remember the sky is not falling and chicken little was wrong. Besides, if the sky really does fall you and I can’t do anything about it anyway.
