Thirteen fires are being tracked in Colorado as of Tuesday morning. Most are controlled. The newest fire is the Swiss Roll Fire which was started by lightning on the Pagosa Springs Ranger District of the San Juan National Forest 20 miles NE of Pagosa Springs.

Robert “Bob” DiPietro was named acting superintendent of District 70 on April 22, and took that position on July 1, with the retirement of Ronda Rein. The Board of Education gave him a unanimous approval and Board of Education Director Dr. AJ Wilson put it this way.

According to Rye Fire Protection District (RFPD) Fire Chief Ross Gallegos, RFPD was called to a structure fire in the 8200 block of Maple Drive in the Woodland Acres subdivision of Rye in the early a.m. hours on Sunday, September 6.

The members of the Daytime Book Club generally enjoyed Death Under a Little Sky by Stig Abel. This novel was a shorter, more accessible read than many of the previous selections, featuring brief chapters that made it easy to set down and return to later.
