Within six hours of being evacuated from Rye, 40 people reached out to me from Pueblo offering their homes for refuge for evacuees. Within one day three truckloads of food and supplies were on their way from Colorado Springs.At first, I was a little bothered by the immediate response.

Pueblo County School District 70’s educators were welcomed to the 2026-27 season as they recently gathered for orientation, professional learning, and community building.

Over 50 people attended the Colorado City Metro District (CCMD) special meeting on Tuesday night. They were joined by 13 people online and a number of CCMD employees. During the meeting probably half a dozen others came to the door, saw how full the room was and left.

Pueblo Zoo Tax will be on City Ballot

The Pueblo Zoo will have a proposal for a .167% of retail sales tax on the November ballot. The proposal will apply to all retail sales and will have to be voted on again in five years. The Zoo needed 1,331 signatures to get the measure on the ballot and has achieved that.

4-H Shooters Qualify for State Fair Match

The Pueblo County Fair shooting sports competitions for .22 rifle, archery, and .22 pistol were held July 11th and 12th at the State Fairgrounds and Pueblo West Sportsman’s Club. All members of the Greenhorn Kickers 4-H Club who competed qualified for the State Fair match.

Larry Pieper, 74, grew up in the Roman Catholic church and at the age of 18 joined the Church of Christ.His journey brought he and his wife, Dixie to a cabin Larry built at Aspen Acres and the Rye Church of Christ, where Larry is one of five elders.
