Rye High School’s Booster Club is right in the middle of its busiest time of the school year. They just recently, on September 10, wrapped up their annual golf tournament at the Hollydot Golf Course.

We went from one of the lowest weeks of the summer, as far as wildfires, last week (10) to one of the busiest this week, in which there are 19 active fires. The Quartz Ridge Fire on the San Juan National Forest was reported on August 5th.

The District 70 Board of Education heard a presentation from Ethan Beeman, Rye High School’s FFA advisor and Ag Sciences teacher, about the upcoming trip to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana.

RCC Saddle Club to Host Royalty Clinic

It is getting close to time to select a new royalty court for the Rye Colorado City (RCC) Saddle Club, and they want to help the contestants be prepared. There will be a clinic held on Saturday, September 30 for anyone interested in competing for the royalty positions.

Former Rye resident Dorothy Ohlsen, currently residing at Bonaventure of Pueblo, was named Pueblo’s 2023 Silver Queen on September 14. Ohlsen, a young 98-year-old, has led an interesting and astounding life.
