The Rye Fire Protection District (RFPD) has a full board, complete with a new officer election after their meeting on September 18. The election of officers is usually held in July but was delayed this year due to an unexpected vacancy on the board.

On August 27, 2021, Mike Peck opened the Rye Café at 2115 Main Street in Rye. Last Tuesday, he and I sat down to talk about his first two years in business and what is in the future. “People really receive our food well,” shared Peck when asked what had gone right in the last two years.

Wildfire Activity Slows Considerably this Week

The fire activity in Colorado dropped significantly in the last week. The number of wildfires fell from 16 to 13 and only three fires remain over 1000 acres. The largest fire is the Little Mesa fire. The amount it has burned has been lowered from over 4000 acres to 3,928 acres.
