Thunderbolts Win Two Out of Three in Own Tournament

The Rye High School boys basketball team were four points away from remaining undefeated after hosting their own invitational tournament last week. A narrow hard fought three-point loss to Fowler gave them a 2-1 record for the week and a 5-1 season on the year going into Christmas break.

All-Conference Honors Given to Fall Sport Thunderbolts

The fall sports season was inundated with post season accolades for Rye Thunderbolts. Although each sport is different in how they recognize their most exceptional athletes, Rye certainly had much to be proud of.In golf, Branson Burbidge received second team all-state honors.

Rye Boys 3-0 Going into Tourney

The Rye High School boys basketball team moved their record to 3-0 with a 68-53 win over Kim/Branson.They only led by two points at the end of the first quarter, and by halftime the Thunderbolts were up 11, 39-28, pulling a little further ahead in the second half for the victory.

Moore Grabs Bronze at Tough Limon Wrestling Tournament

The Rye High School wrestling team attended the 31 team – twoday Limon Badger Invitational last Friday and Saturday. Burlington High School went home with the team title scoring 205 points. Rye placed 18th with 49.5 points.Skyler Moore won the bronze medal in the 190 lb.

Rye Girls Face Busy Week

The Rye High School Girls’ basketball team didn’t have any games last week but play a pair this week. Monday, they hosted Pueblo South (1-7) and tonight (Thursday) they host Fowler (13).

Grapplers Place Fifth at Fowler Invitational

The Rye High School wrestling team began their 2025-26 season with the 15-team, Fowler Grizzly Invitational. The home team claimed the team title with 207 points. The Thunderbolts placed 5th with 91 points.RHS 190 lb.

Rye High Wrestling Pair Named to Pre-Season Wrestlers to Watch List

Rye High School wrestlers Skyler Moore, senior, 175 lbs; and Beau Hicks, senior, 165 lbs; made the Pueblo Chieftain list of the 35+ wrestlers to watch in Pueblo County.Pueblo Central had seven wrestlers named. Pueblo Centennial had six named. Pueblo County had six named.

Forell Looks for Great Things from Senior Dominated Wrestling

When the Rye Wrestling team takes the mat on December 6, at the Fowler Invitational Tournament, Head Coach Billy Forell will be starting his seventh year as the Head Coach for the Thunderbolts.Forell has contributed extensively as a coach in the D70 school system.
