Jacob Valdez, sophomore from Pueblo West, was the gold medalist at the Fowler Invitational Golf Tournament held at the LaJunta golf course last week. Pueblo West won the tournament. The home team Fowler Grizzlies placed 2nd and Rye High School finished in 8th place.

The Rye High School baseball team won their 10th straight game and outscored John Mall on the road 42-1 last Friday. The Thunderbolts pounded out 32 hits in the victory that left than 6-0 in league play.

Soccer Team Comes Up Short Against Stiff Competition

The Rye High School Girls Soccer team faced the stiffest competition year to date over the last week and dropped a pair of matches. Last Thursday, in what Head Coach Mike Wing describes as “the best team we faced” Lamar downed the Thunderbolts 4-1.

Girls Golf Results Unavailable

For the second week in a row, we have been unable to print the results of the Rye High School Girls Golf Team. Requests for information about their performance have not been received by the newspaper. We will continue to seek those results so the hard work of the team can be recognized.

Soccer Team Drops Three Last Week

The Rye High School girls soccer team came up short in a trio of matches last week. That drops their overall record to 3-3 and 1-1 in league. The Rye High School girls soccer team came up short against the Vanguard Coursers on April 5th dropping a 6-3 decision on the road.

Rye Sweeps Double-Header at Home

The Rye High School baseball game with #1 ranked Limon was cancelled due to high winds but that didn’t stop the Thunderbolts from solidifying their #2 position in the polls with a doubleheader victory over Las Animas in the friendly confines of Greenhorn Meadows Park.

Track Team Shows Well at CSU-Pueblo Thunderbowl

The Rye High School track team continued to improve times and distances at the 2022 Thunder Storm Invitational track meet held at the CSU-Pueblo Thunderbowl last Saturday. Pueblo West grabbed the boys and girls title in the 24-team event.
