Volleyball Team Splits with Four Schools Last Week

The Rye High School volleyball team played four teams and 16 sets last week while battling sickness along the way. Rye faced two of those teams in the friendly confines of their own gymnasium and two on the road. When all was said and done, they ended up 2-2 for the week.

Young RHS Golf Team Places Third in League Tournament

The young Rye High School boys’ golf team placed 3rd in the Santa Fe League Tournament held at Hollydot Golf Course on September 10th. Swink won the league championship with a score of 248. Rye shot a 262 as a team.

Maroney Places Second in Gunnison Cross Country Meet

David Maroney finished about 30 seconds behind Ezekial Wilson of Salida to win the Silver Medal at the Mountaineer/Cowboy Cross Country Meet 2024 held in Gunnison last week. Wilson ran the course in a time of 16:57.04 and Maroney crossed the finish line in a time of 17:27.67.

Rye Falls to Lamar on the Road, Wins Against Las Animas and Pueblo Central

The Rye High School volleyball team went 2-1 last week, defeating Las Animas and Pueblo Central but falling to Lamar on the road.On September 3rd, Rye traveled to Las Animas and downed the home team easily, 25-12, 25-12 and 25-22.Kelsy Stribling had nine kills and eight assists in the contest.

Rye Competes in Massive Meet at Alamosa

Over 550 high school boys and girls participated in the Alamosa Invitational Cross-Country meet held at Cattails Golf Course on September 7th.Cheyenne Mountain High School came away as the top team in both divisions.In the boy’s division Rye placed 21st out of 28 schools.

The young Rye High School football team lost three fumbles, had some untimely penalties but continued to improve moving the football down the field, against Monte Vista in their home opener.

Golf Team Shows Well at Their

The Rye High School golf team hosted their invitational tournament on Thursday, September 5th at Hollydot Golf Course.Twenty-three teams competed with Montezuma Cortez capturing the team title with a score of 232. Rye had a pair of teams playing.

Volleyball Team Wins One at Home and One of the Road

The Rye High School Volleyball team started the season off with a pair of wins last week. On the 27th of August, Rye hosted St.Mary’s and won a deciding fifth game to take the match.“St. Mary’s was a closer match than it should have been,” shared Head Coach Michele Roy.

Gridiron Thunderbolts Led by Most Experienced Rye Coach

Connor Pigg is the Dean of Coaches at Rye High School. The RHS graduate will be starting his 7th year as Head Coach, and 10th year overall with the Thunderbolt football team. He has also coached RHS track for 10 years and spent three years as a wrestling coach and one year in middle school football.
