Moore Grabs Gold and Wrestlers Place Fifth in Own Invitational

Rye High School hosted an invitational wrestling tournament on January 11 and welcomed the new year with a fifth place finish of the 12 teams who competed.Coronado won the event with 158 points. Rye had 120 points.Skyler Moore moved his record to 14-5 with a gold medal performance in the 175 lb.

Rye Wins Convincingly on the Road

The Rye High School Girls basketball team downed Florence on the road 54-30, in a game that featured the return of Kelsy Stribling from a back injury. The senior scored a team leading 20 points, had five assists, blocked a shot and stole the ball twice.

First Quarter Deficit Difficult to Overcome for Rye Team

A 17-8 first quarter deficit turned out to be to much for the Rye High School Thunderbolts boys basketball team to recover from in a 54-44 road loss on January 10.

Rye High Boys Team Wins Two in Own Tournament

The Rye High School boys’ basketball team won two of three games last week to even their season mark at 3-3 going into the Christmas break.In the tournament they hosted, they opened with a 49-28 loss to Swallows Academy.

The Rye High School wrestling team placed 18th in the 29 team Pete &n Ina Gomez Invitational held at Walsenburg Jr. Sr. High School on Saturday The Classical Academy captured the team title with 173 points. Rye scored 54 points.Skyler Moore collected 20 team points and a bronze medal in the 175 lb.

Klipfel Led Team to Focus on Playing Basketball the Right Way

Clay Klipfel is in his maiden season as the Head Coach of the Rye High School boys basketball team. Klipfel has also coached baseball and football at RHS. He has been a head coach for four years and has coached at the high school level for a total of 10 years.The basketball team has 23 participants.

Boys Basketball Team Wins One of Three in Lamar Tournament

The Rye High School boys’ basketball team began their season with a 6A opponent from Liberal, Kansas in a tournament held in Lamar. Liberal scored at least 15 points in each quarter of the Thursday game and downed Rye 69-47.Eli Guzman, a sophomore, scored 29 points and had six rebounds.

Maroney Effort Best in RHS History

Although cross country does not do post season awards like volleyball and football it should be noted that Rye High School cross country runner David Maroney, a junior, is the highest finisher Rye has ever had on the boy’s side in the state placing 14th.

Rye Girls Win One in Lamar

The Rye High School Girls’ basketball team opened their 2024-25 season with a three-day tournament in Lamar.In the opening game they faced Granada and came out on the wrong side of the scoreboard 4318.Kelsy Stribling a senior scored six points and had five rebounds in the contest.
