Dozens of families gathered at Greenhorn Meadows Park to hop into Easter early on Saturday morning for the Easter egg hunt hosted by the Sangre De Cristo Volunteers for Community (VFC).

Fifty Participants Brave Ice-Cold Water at Scholarship Fundraiser

Approximately fifty people took to the icy, cold waters of Lake Beckwith on Saturday, March 23, to raise money for a scholarship fund for seniors at Rye High School and to raise awareness about suicide prevention.

Fine Weather Forecast for Hoppy Easter Egg Hunt and Bake Sale

According to the weather forecast, the temperature is supposed to top out at 69 degrees on Saturday, March 30. The warmer weather will translate into some mighty fine hunting for Easter eggs at the Hoppy Easter Egg Hunt and Bake Sale sponsored by Sangre de Cristo Volunteers for Community.

Beach and Christian Retire From RFPD

Captains Mike Christian and Jim Beach have both retired from their service with the Rye Fire Protection District (RFPD). Captain Beach retired on March 22, 2024, and Captain Christian will be retiring on March 29, 2024. Both had served many years with the RFPD, Beach had 33 years of service there.

Rye FFA Oyster Fry Largest Yet

The 2024 Rye FFA Rocky Mountain Oyster Fry and Member Labor Auction was the largest yet. With many new FFA members on board, a recordbreaking figure of over 900 tickets were pre-sold, surpassing over 700 sold last year.

For hunters hoping to draw a big game license in Colorado in 2024, the Colorado primary draw application period opened March 1 to a lot of big changes. The draw application period will end on April 2.
