The general election in Pueblo County had several historical results. In the 10th Judicial District Attorney race, Kala Beauvais became the first woman in history to hold the DA position.Beauvais had 45,560 votes compared to Kyle S. Aber who garnered 35,441 votes.

Albuquerque Low Winter Storm Slams Colorado

Much of the Greenhorn Valley ground to a halt last week during what felt like endless days of accumulating snow. The snow began in the Greenhorn Valley on Tuesday, November 5, and the brutal days from then until Saturday, November 9, were snow, snow, snow, and more snow.

Metro District Tired of Greenbelt Violations

About a dozen constituents attended the October 29, Colorado City Metro District (CCMD) meeting. District Manager Jim Eccher began the meeting with a glowing report regarding the Community Clean up sponsored by Valley First and the Metro District with help from San Isabel Electric.

Laca Achieves the Rare American FFA Degree

Rye High School’s Zeb Laca has achieved a degree rarely given.He is only the third Rye FFA member to achieve the American Degree recipient. This is the highest degree the FFA can bestow upon its members.

RHS Marching Band Shows Well at State

For the first time in 20 years the Rye High School Marching Band competed in the 1A Colorado State Band Tournament and returned to Rye with a 7th place finish.Students performed in front of a large crowd of 1A/2A/3A bands, parents and locals at CSUPueblo.

Rye Resident Begins Third Year as U.S. Marshal of Colorado

On October 18, 2022, Pueblo County Sheriff Kirk M. Taylor became Colorado Marshal Kirk M.Taylor. We caught up with him last Friday on his way home to Rye, where he and his wife still live and take care of their cattle and property just like they have always done.
