Massive Rockslide Closes Highways 165 and 96

The Colorado Department of Transportation closed CO Highways 165 and 96 due to a huge rockslide on Sunday, December 29. The rockslide occurred in the area of McKenzie Junction, in Custer County. CO 96 was closed in both directions Sunday evening from Wetmore to Westcliffe.

72nd Annual Beulah Yule Log Hunt in the Bag

The 72nd annual Beulah Yule Log Hunt was held on a bright crisp Sunday.The festive Beulah event on December 15 started with the Nature and Wildlife Discovery Center (NWDC) hosting a delicious chili dinner from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Arthur’s Kitchen in the Horseshoe Lodge.

Third Quarter Filled with Greenhorn Valley Activities

Greenhorn Valley Days featured a variety of events for the entire family. Co-ed softball, a bounce house, a slip-and-slide, live music all day, 50 vendors, tournaments, contests, drawings, face painting, and local organizations educating the public on what they do, made for a full day for everyone.

A Community Service Well Done

Months of hard work by the Colorado City Rye Lions Club were completed on Saturday, December 21, when they held their annual Christmas food and toy distribution. Eighty families were served, providing food for 333 people and gifts for 96 children/teens!
