VFC Adds New Board Members

During the Volunteers for Community (VFC) board meeting of January 15, the board voted unanimously to add Dede Downs and Melvin Nigh to the board.Both Downs and Nigh have been doing extensive volunteer work in recent VFC projects and their value to the organization and community is great.

Metro Contracts with A Squared to Reduce Energy Expenditures

The Colorado City Metro District board approved the expenditure of $150,000 on a proposal from A Squared, which should dramatically reduce the amount of electricity used at the plant through computer programs starting and stopping motors rather than depending on manual starts and stops.

Employed Struggle to Make Ends Meet

A first of its kind report in Colorado, funded by the 10 Colorado United Way agencies and Ent Credit Union, shows that 37% of Colorado families are struggling to get by. That number is higher in Pueblo County where 47% of the 67,480 households are income constrained.

Pueblo County Officials Sworn in at History-Making Ceremony

Pueblo County Commissioners Miles Lucero and Paula McPheeters were sworn into their new offices and Kala Beauvais was sworn in to become the district’s first female District Attorney (DA) on Tuesday, January 14. Beauvais, Lucero and McPheeters are serving four-year terms.
