2023 Year in Review - First Quarter

The first quarter of 2023 will be remembered for the February 24 murder of long time resident and local State Farm agent Fred Ettleman. Ettleman was shot and killed in the Northern Avenue (Pueblo) King Soopers parking lot. The murder remains unsolved.

Self-Serve Water and Ice Station Coming to the Valley

The installation of a very welcome addition to the valley has begun. Twice the Ice, Twice Pure Water is being installed just north of the carwash in Colorado City.

Rye FFA Student Approved for Trip at D70 BOE Meeting

Ethan Beeman, Rye High School FFA Advisor and Ag Teacher, presented a request for a trip to be approved by the Pueblo County School District 70 Board of Education (BOE) on December 5.

Local Photographer Joel Ohlsen Winning Honors

Joel Ohlsen is on a winning streak. A well-deserved winning streak that is the result of several years of practice and devotion as he honed his photography skills. While the most recent awards are certainly not his first awards, they do seem to be coming closer together and from more places.

Free Documentary at the Greenhorn Valley Baptist Church

The Star of Bethlehem is a 2007 documentary, and you can see it for free at the Greenhorn Valley Baptist Church, 7965 Grand Vista Dr., Rye. The special showing will be held on Wednesday, December 13, at 6:30 p.m. The documentary lasts approximately 65 minutes and is open to everyone.

Pueblo Courthouse Lighting Ceremony was Spectacular

The 24th Annual Pueblo Courthouse Lighting ceremony was held on November 21. The event attracted thousands from Pueblo to come and see live music, fireworks, a laser show, and over 20 Christmas trees inside the courthouse. 'This is a really big deal right now, and it's grown every year.
